Join Jeppe Hein for a special artist led tour through his current exhibition in the under-ground art space Cisternerne: IN IS THE ONLY WAY OUT.
IN IS THE ONLY WAY OUT is a large-scale installation taking up the 4320 m2 of Cisternerne, inviting the visitor onto an underground journey from darkness into the light. The cold and moist climate of Cisternerne sharpens your senses and insists that you are present in the now. On Sunday October 14th, this emphasis on being together in the presence will be explored during this artist ‘walk and talk’ conducted by Jeppe Hein himself.
Jeppe Hein is well-known for his interactive and playful sculptures and art installations, installed all over the world, among these his mirror labyrinths and water pavilions and his series of Modified Social Benches which challenges our way of being together. A prom-inent characteristic of Hein’s artworks is that they are not complete until they meet their audience who is always invited to participate.
On this special tour through the exhibition, everyone’s invited to experience IN IS THE ONLY WAY OUT in the company of the artist.
Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled.
During the autumn you can join us for a morning or an evening outside of opening hours where you will make your own singing bowl painting and get a guided tour of the current exhibition. The event is both for adults and children.
The internationally recognised Danish artist Jeppe Hein has created the site-specific exhibition IN IS THE ONLY WAY OUT for the wondrous, underground exhibition space, Cisternerne. Singing bowls, which are used all over the world for meditation, relaxation, healing and religious events, forms an important part of the exhibition and the artist's general praxis. Hein has developed a concept where you use singing bowls filled with water and luminous colours to create the most beautiful paintings.
Make sure to wear warm clothes and practical shoes since it's cool and damp underground.
After the paintings have dried they can be picked up at Cisternerne and taken home.
