MONDAY SEPTEMBER 17th AT 6, 7 & 8 PM
RITE OF NOTHING - CHOIR CONCERT IN CISTERNERNE

Don't miss the chance to experience the site-specific concert "RITE of Nothing" composed for Cisternerne by Louise Alenius.

The choir concert premiered in May 2018 during Bloom Festival in Søndermarken Park. Due to a high demand we've decided to arrange another three concerts in September.

RITE of Nothing was composed for the catacomb-like atmosphere of Cisternerne. The 17 seconds reverberation between the underground columns ensure a magical experience.

The piece is written for and performed by the opera singers Morten Grove Frandsen, Frederik Rolin, Adam Riis and Emil Lykke and the choir Korage which is composed of ten significant female voices: Kirstine Stubbe Teglbjærg, Pernille Rosendahl, Karen Mukupa, Josephine Philip, Kristina Holgersen, Rebekka Maria Andersson, Maria Køhnke, Karen Mukupa, Hannah Schneider and Sharin Foo.

Composer Louise Alenius has a close connection to The Royal Danish Theater. She has received several prizes and nominations for her operas.

Please notice that the ticket for the concert can be re-used as an entrance ticket for the current exhibtion in Cisternerne: IN IS THE ONLY WAY OUT by Jeppe Hein. The exhibition will be closed for the duration of the concert but the ticket can be used any other day during the exhibition period (until November 30th).

SINGING BOWL CONCERT IN THE CISTERNS - SOLD OUT

Experience the current exhibition IN IS THE ONLY WAY OUT by Jeppe Hein on this special night when musician Jane Winther envelopes the underground space of Cisternerne with the calming sounds of her voice and the tunes of numerous singing bowls.

Singing bowls play an important part of Jeppe Hein's exhibition underneath Søndermarken Park. This night the bowls, which are used all over the world for meditation, relaxation and healing, will be activated throught Jane Winther's specially developed "music for the soul".

Jane Winther has created this special music genre combining the tunes of singing bowls and her own voice after many years of experience and several travels to the East. Her concert in Cisternerne will be an extraordinary sound experience since the underground colonnades create a reverberation of up to 17 seconds.

This event is part of Golden Days 2018.

ARTIST TALK AND WALK - WITH JEPPE HEIN

Join Jeppe Hein for a special artist led tour through his current exhibition in the under-ground art space Cisternerne: IN IS THE ONLY WAY OUT.

IN IS THE ONLY WAY OUT is a large-scale installation taking up the 4320 m2 of Cisternerne, inviting the visitor onto an underground journey from darkness into the light. The cold and moist climate of Cisternerne sharpens your senses and insists that you are present in the now. On Sunday October 14th, this emphasis on being together in the presence will be explored during this artist ‘walk and talk’ conducted by Jeppe Hein himself.

Jeppe Hein is well-known for his interactive and playful sculptures and art installations, installed all over the world, among these his mirror labyrinths and water pavilions and his series of Modified Social Benches which challenges our way of being together. A prom-inent characteristic of Hein’s artworks is that they are not complete until they meet their audience who is always invited to participate.

On this special tour through the exhibition, everyone’s invited to experience IN IS THE ONLY WAY OUT in the company of the artist.
